Who is this IELTS course for?

The UK requires different IELTS scores for different purposes. This course is built around your specific UK goal — not generic IELTS preparation.

UK university applicants

If you are applying to a UK university, you need Academic IELTS. Most Russell Group universities require 6.5 or 7.0 overall with no band below 6.0. We help you close the specific gap your offer letter demands.

Visa and immigration applicants

Skilled Worker, Family, and Student visas require UKVI IELTS (Secure English Language Test). We help you understand which version you need, what band is required for your route, and how to hit it efficiently.

NHS nurses, doctors, and healthcare professionals

NMC registration needs 7.0 in Listening, Reading and Speaking and 6.5 in Writing. GMC requires 7.5 overall. These scores demand targeted preparation — especially in Academic Writing Task 1 and Speaking fluency. We build training around these exact requirements.

What does the course include?

Every session is built around the specific band score your UK goal requires — not a one-size-fits-all lesson plan.

Route-first test planning

We confirm whether your UK goal needs Academic or UKVI IELTS, what score your specific route requires, and which skill to target first — so you are not preparing for the wrong version or the wrong band.

Writing feedback on every task

Task 1 and Task 2 marked against the same four IELTS criteria examiners use: Task Achievement, Coherence and Cohesion, Lexical Resource, and Grammatical Range and Accuracy. You get specific improvements, not vague comments.

Speaking mock tests with scoring

Full three-part Speaking mock tests under real exam conditions. Band score plus specific improvements on fluency, lexis, grammar, and pronunciation. Particularly useful for NMC nurses who need consistent 7.0 in Speaking.

Mock tests and retake strategy

Timed full-paper practice under exam conditions. If you have already taken IELTS and one skill is blocking your UK goal, we build a section-specific plan rather than repeating broad general preparation.

UK IELTS Requirements

IELTS scores for common UK goals

The UK uses IELTS differently depending on your route. Here is what each common goal actually requires.

Skilled Worker visa: B2 since January 2026

New Skilled Worker visa applicants have needed English at B2 since 8 January 2026: IELTS for UKVI with at least 5.5 in each skill. Many healthcare, education and professional roles ask for more. Always check the GOV.UK route page and your employer's requirements.

UK Student visa — institution decides

Your university sets the IELTS requirement. Pre-sessional courses may accept 5.5–6.0; most undergraduate courses require 6.0–6.5; postgraduate research can require 7.0 or above. Check your offer letter carefully.

Family visa: A1, A2, then B1

Spouse and partner visas need an approved Secure English Language Test (SELT) in speaking and listening, not a standard IELTS certificate: A1 for the first visa, A2 to extend, and B1 to settle (B2 for settlement applications from 26 March 2027). IELTS Life Skills is one approved test.

NMC nursing registration: 7.0 and 6.5 in Writing

The NMC accepts IELTS Academic with at least 7.0 in Listening, Reading and Speaking, 6.5 in Writing and 7.0 overall. Two sittings within 12 months can be combined if the NMC's conditions are met. Writing is still where most nurses lose marks.

What should your next step be?

The right preparation strategy depends entirely on which UK goal you are targeting and where your score currently stands.

Applying to a UK universityConfirm your institution's minimum band requirements — Academic 6.0 to 7.5 depending on course. Book a consultation to build a timed Academic IELTS plan around your weakest skill.
Applying for a Skilled Worker visaNew Skilled Worker applicants need B2 (IELTS for UKVI 5.5 in each skill) since 8 January 2026. Check whether your employer or profession asks for more; NHS roles often do.
NMC nurse registrationTarget 7.0 in Listening, Reading and Speaking and 6.5 in Writing (NMC). Writing Task 1 and formal speaking register are the most common weak points. A specialist nursing IELTS plan addresses these specifically.

Frequently asked questions

The most common questions we hear from students and professionals in the UK before joining.

Most UK visa routes — Skilled Worker, Student, Family — require UKVI IELTS (Secure English Language Test, SELT). Regular IELTS is accepted for university admissions but not for visa applications. Check your specific visa route on the UK government website before booking.

New Skilled Worker visa applicants have needed English at B2 since 8 January 2026, which with IELTS for UKVI means at least 5.5 in each skill. Professional registration often asks for more: the NMC wants 7.0 in Listening, Reading and Speaking and 6.5 in Writing, and the GMC sets its own higher scores. Check the GOV.UK and regulator pages before you book.

Yes. The coaching is fully online and live, so you can attend sessions from anywhere in the UK — London, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, or any other city. Sessions are scheduled flexibly around work and study commitments.

The NMC accepts IELTS Academic with at least 7.0 in Listening, Reading and Speaking, 6.5 in Writing, and 7.0 overall. Results from two sittings within 12 months can be combined if the NMC's conditions are met. Check the NMC's accepted tests page before you book.

IELTS Academic is for university admission and most professional registrations (NMC, GMC, HCPC). IELTS General Training is for many immigration and work visa routes. Both are available in the UKVI (Secure English Language Test) version. Choose based on your specific goal.

From our marking, five patterns cost the most marks: missing or extra articles (a, an, the); present continuous used for habits (I am going to work every day); a Speaking register so formal that answers lose fluency; Task 2 essays written like a university exam answer rather than with a clear position and developed paragraphs; and reading every word in Reading instead of skimming and scanning. Each one improves quickly with targeted practice.

Yes. We work with students from band 5.0 upwards. The starting point assessment tells us exactly where to focus — whether that is building foundational writing structure or closing the final gap from 6.5 to 7.0.
