PTE to IELTS score table (Pearson, July 2025)
The overall column is the one most universities use. The skill columns matter when a course or visa sets a minimum in each skill: the PTE ranges for Speaking and Writing sit much higher than for Listening and Reading at the same IELTS band.

PTE scores for UK visas: use the Home Office table instead
For UK visas the conversion above does not apply. The Home Office sets a minimum PTE Academic UKVI score for each CEFR level, and it applies to every skill, not the overall score. New Skilled Worker applicants have needed B2 since 8 January 2026.

The table here is Pearson's own published alignment between PTE Academic and IELTS Academic, updated in July 2025. Pearson calls it its current best estimate and notes that any prediction from one test to another contains measurement error. The IELTS partners do not publish a PTE conversion.

No. For UK visas the Home Office sets its own minimum PTE Academic UKVI scores for each CEFR level, and they apply to every skill: 43 for B1, 59 for B2, 76 for C1 and 85 for C2. Only PTE Academic UKVI taken at an approved centre counts.
Yes, but only PTE Core, not PTE Academic. IRCC accepts PTE Core, IELTS General Training and CELPIP-General for Express Entry, and converts each to CLB levels with its own tables.
No. Each test result stands alone, and institutions and governments assess the test you submit against their own minimums.
PTE Academic scores are reported as valid for 2 years, the same as IELTS. Some institutions and governments set their own rules, so check the one you are applying to.
