What is IELTS Life Skills A1?

IELTS Life Skills A1 is a speaking and listening test required for those applying to join their partner or spouse in the UK. It's commonly needed for:

Fiancé(e) visa
Parent of a child in the UK

The test lasts about 16–18 minutes and is conducted face-to-face with another test taker and an examiner. You’ll be assessed on basic communication abilities such as introducing yourself, asking and answering questions, and following instructions.

What is IELTS Life Skills B1?

IELTS Life Skills B1 is a higher-level version of the A1 test and is required for:

Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR)
