Who is this Australia IELTS course for?

Australia requires different English levels for different visa categories. This course targets the exact level your specific route needs.

Skilled migration and PR applicants

Australia's points-based migration system rewards higher English scores. Most applicants need 7.0 in each band (Proficient English) to be competitive — we build your preparation around that specific target rather than a generic band goal.

University and study visa applicants

Australian universities typically require Academic IELTS 6.0–7.0. Group of Eight universities and competitive postgraduate programmes often require 6.5–7.0 with no band below 6.0. We plan around your institution and intake deadline.

AHPRA nurses and healthcare professionals

AHPRA requires 7.0 in each IELTS band — no averaging. Writing Task 1 academic report writing and Speaking formal register are the most common weak points for internationally trained nurses. We build training specifically around these.

Australia English Requirements

Competent, Proficient, and Superior English explained

Australia uses three named English levels for skilled migration. Most competitive applicants target Proficient (7.0 each band) or above.

English LevelIELTS ScoreWhen you need it
Competent English6.0 in each bandMost skilled migration visas — 189, 190, 491 minimum
Proficient English7.0 in each bandHigher migration points, some occupations, AHPRA nursing
Superior English8.0 in each bandMaximum English language points in the migration points test
Vocational English5.0 in each bandSome employer-sponsored routes — check your specific occupation

What does the course include?

Each session is built around your specific Australia English level target — Competent, Proficient, or Superior.

Australia-specific score planning

We confirm whether your route needs Competent (6.0 each), Proficient (7.0 each), or Superior English (8.0 each), identify which skill is your bottleneck, and build preparation around that specific gap — not a generic IELTS improvement plan.

Writing feedback on Task 1 and Task 2

Academic graph and report writing for study and AHPRA routes. General Training letters for migration-focused learners. Feedback against all four IELTS criteria with specific, actionable improvements on every submission.

Speaking mock tests with scoring

Full three-part Speaking mock test under real conditions. Band score plus criterion-by-criterion feedback on fluency, vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation. Particularly useful for AHPRA applicants who need consistent 7.0 in Speaking.

Mock tests and retake strategy

Timed full-paper practice with targeted band-level review. If you have already taken IELTS and one skill is blocking your Australian goal, a section-specific plan is more efficient than broad general retake preparation.

What is the right next step for your Australia situation?

The preparation strategy depends on your route and which English level — Competent, Proficient, or Superior — you are targeting.

Your situationBest next step
Applying for 189 or 190 skilled migrationConfirm whether your occupation requires Competent or Proficient English. Most competitive applicants target Proficient (7.0 each) for higher points. Book a consultation to build a plan around your specific occupation and points target.
AHPRA nursing registrationTarget 7.0 in every single band — there is no averaging. Writing academic reports and formal Speaking register are the most common weak points. A specialist 8-week plan focused on these two skills is the most efficient path.
Applying to an Australian universityCheck your institution and course requirements. Most programmes need Academic IELTS 6.0–7.0 with no band below 6.0. Identify your weakest band and build preparation around the intake or offer deadline.
Already took IELTS, one band below targetIELTS One Skill Retake (OSR) is available if only one section is below your Australia target. Alternatively, a targeted short course on that section alone avoids full retake preparation for skills already at the right level.

Frequently asked questions

The most common questions we hear from Australia-bound students before they join.

For skilled migration visas (189, 190, 491), Australia accepts both Academic and General Training IELTS. Academic IELTS is required for university study and most professional registrations including AHPRA nursing. General Training is typically used for migration points purposes when no professional registration is involved.

The standard IELTS requirement for skilled migration is 'Competent English' — 6.0 in each of the four bands. For 'Proficient English' (needed for some occupations and higher points), you need 7.0 in each band. 'Superior English' (8.0 in each band) gives the maximum English language points.

AHPRA accepts either IELTS Academic 7.0 in each band, or OET Grade B in each section. There is no averaging — a 6.5 in any single IELTS band fails the requirement regardless of performance in other sections. Writing and Speaking are the most common weak points for nurses.

Yes. The coaching is fully live online, so you can join from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, or anywhere else in Australia. Sessions are scheduled flexibly to fit around shift work and study — including early mornings and evenings.

Competent English (6.0 in each band) is the minimum for most skilled migration visas. Proficient English (7.0 in each band) is required for some occupations, gives higher immigration points, and is needed for AHPRA registration. Superior English (8.0 in each band) gives the maximum English points in the skilled migration points test.

Both IELTS and PTE Academic are accepted for Australian skilled migration and study visas. PTE is fully computer-scored and some find the Speaking section easier to prepare for consistently. IELTS is more widely accepted globally. For AHPRA nursing specifically, IELTS Academic or OET are the two approved tests.
