How to Cancel or Reschedule the Life in the UK Test (2025 Guide)

Plans change — and if you’ve already booked your Life in the UK Test but can’t attend, here’s how to cancel or reschedule it through the official GOV.UK system. It’s important to act early to avoid losing your test fee.
Can You Cancel a Life in the UK Test?
Yes. You can cancel your test anytime before the scheduled date. However, to receive a refund, you must cancel at least 3 full days (72 hours) before your test date.
How to Cancel Your Test
Go to the official GOV.UK Life in the UK Test login page.
Sign in with the email and password used to book the test.
Navigate to your upcoming test and select “Cancel Booking.”
Confirm your cancellation. GOV.UK will send you a confirmation email.
Can You Reschedule?
GOV.UK does not offer a direct reschedule button. Instead, you must cancel your current booking (with at least 72 hours notice) and then create a new one.

Cancel your current booking following the steps above
Wait for the cancellation email (and refund, if eligible)
Log back into the GOV.UK booking system
Choose a new date and location
Pay the £50 fee again
Refunds & GOV.UK Rules
You are eligible for a refund only if you cancel at least 3 full days in advance
Refunds are usually processed to your original payment method within 7–10 days
If you miss the test or cancel late, you will not be refunded
